Exciting news! We are delighted to announce that ACE Sameday Couriers is backing Leigh Timmis to become the fastest man ever to cycle across Europe. We are the headline sponsor for Leigh’s record breaking attempt – The Fastest Cycle Across Europe – which began on Monday September 10th 2018. Check out the video above as we delivered the support vehicle to Leigh and his team in Lisbon.

The start and finish points for the record are Cabo da Roca on the west coast of Portugal and Ufa, Russia –  the most Westerly and Easterly points of Europe respectively. Leigh is starting his journey by the Atlantic Ocean and ending it on the Russian steppe. In his way are 9 countries, the Pyrenees and 4000 miles of relentless pedalling!

Leigh recently spent 7 years riding around the world, returning to his home city of Derby in 2017, so he knows a thing or two about endurance cycling. His solo adventure was the beginning of a journey of self-discovery and the Fastest Cycle Across Europe will be a continuation of this but with a different focus;  He’s aiming to slice more than 5 days off the current record which stands at 24 days.

It’s a monumental challenge and Leigh is being supported by a highly professional team including an experienced operations/road manager a nutritionist/physiotherapist and a media professional. By meticulously preparing for the ride Leigh and his team are aiming to pre-empt many of the problems that have hampered previous attempts, be they physical, mechanical or psychological. For the preceding 8 months Leigh has been working with the Human Performance Unit at Derby University who are seeking to prepare him physically and psychologically for the rigours that await him on the ride.

Leigh is a passionate advocate for better mental health awareness and works hard to promote the conversation through speaking to groups in schools and businesses around the region.

We are delighted to have become sponsors for this fantastic project and we will be watching his progress every day.
